San Casciano dei Bagni has replaced Cetona as the favoured area for Italians buying second homes, particularly since the wonderful thermal spa there has been completely renewed and now offers a wealth of services to heal and pamper body and soul. The property is actually closer to the small village of Celle sul Rigo, situated off the road that joins the old Roman road, the Cassia, that connected Rome to Siena and Florence. The surrounding countryside is hilly and particularly beautiful with sweeping views towards Monte Amiata.
The property sits on the crown of a hill and is surrounded by about 2.4 acres of land. It has all been beautifully landscaped by Margheriti. A large infinity edge pool is situated to get the best of the views.
The house has recently been totally restored to a standard rarely seen. Every detail has been thought of, the best materials used, notably in the kitchen and bathrooms and, less obviously but equally importantly, in the plumbing and wiring and fixtures. Internally the walls have all been hand painted.
